I liked the creative world that the author created. She definitely brought up some good ideas of different creatures and how they would behave in the modern world. However, some of the characters felt one-dimensional, especially the villains. The villains clearly knew the main character and her family for years, but throughout the book they act pure evil, which felt bizarre, and how does it make sense that they would hurt their own daughter, when they have been super caring parents up til then. Real people aren't pure evil or pure good. They are some shade in between. The romantic relationship between the main character and her boy toy doesn't really make much sense. It seems to be more of a sexual attraction because they're the same species. Definitely not a good reason to kiss a guy and become attached to him for the rest of your life. Also, even though the guy has known the family his whole life, is best friends with the brother, and he's present during all these life altering events, he acts really detached. Especially when the two sisters and brother are crying in the hotel room, and he just kind of sits off in a corner acting creepy. If my best friend's parent died, I would be right there holding him or her crying my eyes out with them. Its also weird how the parents and the siblings didn't talk to the main character at all about the changes that were occurring to her or how to use her powers once she is informed about what she is. I think the author was trying to be mysterious, but it didn't really make sense. Also, had to skim a few sections, where the author went into way too much detail about the character doing every day things. All constructive criticism out of the way, the relationship between the siblings seemed real, I enjoyed reading the book, and I definitely think the free read was worth the time I spent.

Natural Selection Forces of Nature Book 1 eBook Donna Dull Reviews

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, it’s a story about a girl called Amelia and the strange things that she finds out about herself after her 15th birthday. I mean, why is she so attracted to her big brothers best friend? Why does she look so much younger than she really is? Why does her sister sleep with the entire population of her town? Who killed one of her friends? And Why?

All this and much much more is answered within the book! I’m not going to say too much as i don’t want to give away any surprises but this is definitely one you want to keep an eye out for! I liked Amelia, she wasn’t a whiny teenage girl and actually did some things for herself and took charge. This is a definite plus in my book ) I enjoyed getting to know Xander and Sariah as well (her siblings) and found them thoroughly interesting. The plot flows nicely and there are some ‘interesting’ plot twists. I was sad about one of the things that happened (if you’ve read it, you know!), however understood why it had to occur and it did help advance the plot later. All in all, very enjoyable book, finished it in one sitting and for the price it was when i picked it up (free, go check on usa) it’d be silly for more people to not check out this wonderful series!
So I was looking for a book to read ( I always am ) and I stumbled upon this series. I gave it a try
( because it was free ) and decided that even if I didn't like it, I wouldn't be wasting my money. So I got it. It took me two days to read it. This is a very good book. I'm not a star wars nerd so I don't know what some of it is, but it caught me up in th long run. I really like the romance but I think that there should've been more. That the characters ( Lia and Nate ) were hesitant. I really enjoyed how Xander was the overly protective big bro, and Sariah was the "cat-in-heat" acting bid sis with no flaws what so ever. The parents were a little mysterious to me and Evylin was down right dramatic.

** If you haven't figured this out by now, this is a spoiler alert and if you don't like Sam's then please stop reading... thank you**

I really do think that Sharp could've taken advantage of the many opportunities for more romance. Romance is the key for a YA book. Sorry just my opinion.
Thanks for reading! )
Lia is still reeling from the death of her parents and life as she knew it. She and her family have settled in North Carolina under new identities trying to start over. She's having trouble coming to terms with her bonded mate, Nate. While they are bonded together and physically need each other, they really don't like each other. In the midst of her confusion over Nate, a new, very attractive man enters her life. Now she is even more confused than before. Of course, she cannot run from her past. One night her brother is abducted and her enemies' plans to get even eventually come to the surface. Will she be able to save her family? What will become of her relationship with Nate? I was immediately caught up in this book, as I was the first book in the series. I flew through it and was oh, so sad when I was finished. I can't wait to see what happens next with Lia.
Amelia (Lia) seems to think she's going to be stuck in a child's body forever. Everyone around her is blossoming into adulthood while she's stuck as if she'll be 12 forever, while her brother and sister seem to have been blessed with all of the good looks.

Then strange things start happening as she starts high school. Her brothers best friend, Xander, who she's known for so long seems to have electrocuted her. On top of that he went away for the summer and came back looking even cuter! She can't deny she was attracted to him before, but now he is WOW!

Amelia learns a lot about the secrets her family seem to be hiding from her. Secrets that seem to be putting her in danger now. These secrets are also the same ones they've been hiding that help her to transform into the beautiful women she is to become.

Amelia also learns why there is such a pull/connection between her and Xander and who her siblings really are.

I was definitely pulled in by this book and Lia finding out she is a "natural spirit". I love YA books like this! If you are into magical YA books you definitely want to pick this book up and read it! Elizabeth Sharp writes this story very well and I couldn't wait to find out what happened next!
