Queen of Chaos Sequoyah Book 3 eBook Sabrina Chase

Sabrina Chase tells her stories with the confidence and naturalness of someone who is actually living out what her stories are relating. That is a very great compliment to give an author, by the way. If I am going to read a book by an author, more than anything I need to know if the author is seeing clearly and fully what she is describing to her readers. Sabrina does.

In reading the Sequoyah series, I found the characters to be pleasantly full. I actually found myself missing some of them, when they would be off away from the central plot for a time. Neat gift, that. Very seldom does a writer achieve that, for me. Tolkien did, just to give you an idea of where I am coming from. Sabrina's world-imagining is quite as rich as Tolkien's.

In many of the fiction writers I have read, their effort to flesh out their storybook universe is far from seamlessly integrated into the unfolding lives of the characters. I never once felt that way about Sabrina's descriptions of her character's universe. She has the focus to know when description of her characters surround is needed, and so it comes off in a supportive form, rather than barging into the story with stilted descriptions.

You can tell when the author has barged in with their efforts at description; you will find yourself inadvertently skipping over whole paragraphs of description. That did not happen to me while reading the Sequoyah series. I noticed sometime during the third book in the series that I had not checked out even once. And Sabrina gives her readers some very technically and scenically rich description, all without it ever feeling forced. She’s really amazing at this.

Oh, and on a psychological note, the author did not seem to inject any cynicism into her writing. I found that strangely pleasant, and notably rare. As the story unfolded I could allow myself to hope for a meaningful and even a pleasant outcome for the protagonist, even while all manner of unexpected and unpleasant things were happening to her.

There are some gritty scenes, which I like in a story (it adds a sense of realism), but I never got the sense that any of those gritty events were being shoved in the reader's face to slap us with the idea that life is just pointless and there is no reason trying to find meaning.

I was enduring some prolonged unpleasantness in my life at the time of my reading the Sequoyah books, and the adventure and struggle and pain, and ultimately the happiness of the main characters were a pleasure and a comfort to me.

I am probably making the book sound drippy, and sugary sweet with this review. The books are not at all drippy or sugary sweet. They are very good science fiction writing. This series is more about adventure than the unfolding of a philosophical point of view. Philosophical sci-fi is a commonplace with sci-fi books. I like good philosophical sci-fi books, but this book of adventure was rich, and full of a grandly unfolding story.

I hope Sabrina never stops writing books. And I hope many other readers of sci-fi books get to taste her imagination. She is one of the best writers I have read.

Queen of Chaos Sequoyah Book 3 eBook Sabrina Chase Reviews

In my opinion a sign of a good author is to make their story plausible. And a good way to do that is to make their characters 'real'. And Sabrina does that. Emotion is the one hing tat can make or break a character , especially the use of humor . And has got the knack of using them in the right proportion to make her characters LIVE.
This was the third book of the trilogy. The whole series was good - the plots were interesting and the characters were well drawn. There was plenty of action, but the author also gave adequate time for backstory and character development.

Sabrina Chase seems to know her physics, too. Though she didn't go into a lot of details about her advanced technology (e.g. FTL travel), they seemed to ring true to me (undergrad degree in physics).

There was a love interest for the main characters in the book, though it wasn't what the book (and series) turned on (in my opinion). It was believable but not exactly torrid for people who care a lot about that.
Wow! I gave this final leg of the trilogy a 5 star rating for several reasons. But mostly because I enjoyed the way Moire sort of falls into situations that work out in the end. And somehow she managed to end the crab war and recruit them as allies just in the nick of time. I could easily see asset of movies being made from this series. Perchance to dream...
"Queen of Chaos" was an excellent conclusion to the Sequoyah series. I thoroughly enjoyed this story. The characters had been well developed in previous books, but continued to change and 'grow' in this book. The pacing was good and kept me from putting it down. I found the editing to be excellent, with none of the distracting misspellings and poor grammar that is found in many of the books published via .

The one criticism I have that kept me from giving this 5 stars is that the final resolution seemed abrupt to me. I felt that Ms. Chase could have done more in the previous two books to introduce and develop it and make it smack less of a Deus ex Machina. However, that may be more of a personal taste than a real issue, as she did touch on most of the ideas in the second book.

On the whole, "Queen of Chaos" and the entire Sequoyah series was everything I look for in a good Space Opera, and I've added Sabrina Chase to the list of authors that I will be buying more books from in the future.
Yeah. This is solid. Does it all wrap up just a tad too conveniently? Is Moire Cameron just slightly too good at everything?

For the sake of realism? Yes. For the sake of the story? Hell no. It's a fun read. Chase knows how to draw you in and keep your attention, and I had a really hard time pulling away.
Alas! All good things must come to an end. This has been a satisfying adventure from start to finish. While I could wish for more romance, more ground gun fights, more alien interaction, etc., what this series has is excellent in every aspect; I just want more of everything so I can savor it longer.

It's a solid SciFi adventure that should please any fan regardless of preference (for hard science, military strategy, politics, aliens, various cultures and speech patterns, romance, good vs evil, pirating, bravery, clever plans, gun fights, space battles, engaging characters, mystery, suspense, and moral dilemmas). The writing is almost perfectly error-free, and it appeals to intellectuals who want more than brain candy. (Although it's enjoyable for any level of reader!)

Great investment. I have no regrets that I lost sleep reading late into the night for way too many nights. I'd give up more sleep if I could continue reading about these great characters.
