I just finished the second book of this series and can't wait for the third. I liked this book even better than the first. I think the author uses this novel to push the story outside the standard genre of vampire literature. There are castles and catacombs, but no skulking, no attacks on humans, very little blood. The author's vampires are more interested in their own world politics and power struggles than chasing down humans. They share characteristics with other vampires of the genre, but it is a disservice to consider them as "mere" vampires. She is using the story to meditate on reincarnation, the mysterious space between reincarnations, the connections one can make to past lives and the magic that goes on in front of our eyes but is invisible to us in our cluelessness.

Meanwhile, of course, she gives us a fun romp through medieval times full of longing and lust. Again, the sex is more dreamlike than real, which makes it sweet. The regressions to the past life of Sarah were the best part for me, full of the flavor of the historic period. I hope the third book continues to explore the past and the mysterious communication between the past and the present that the author has created. Recommended even more than the first.

A Romance Novel With Vampires
I enjoyed this second book of the series very much. I'm really looking forward to the next one. I'm hoping the two main characters can finally get together.
I absolutely loved ARIS RISING. What a fantastic way to revitalize a vampire -- romantic and tantalizing! This vampire saga is unique and exciting. ARIS is revealed in all his ultimate and irresistible charm. Where is the third book?!
Okay, there are sexy vampires in love with humans, but this isn't the usual, jump-on-the-bandwagon, formula. The addition of past lives adds a originality to the story that makes it worth the read. That combined with a skill for writing fiction earns this book five stars.
This was a great read. I can't begin to tell you how much I loved it. I will not reveal any of the secrets of the book. This was by far one of the best books I have read. This book would make a great movie. The story line is great, once you start to read the book, you can't wait to the next chapter. I hope you will enjoy this book as much as I have.
The story continues! Aris is a charming, handsome and loving vampire. Who knew? The history revolving around King Henry VII's court is fascinating. I especially enjoyed the glimpse of Ann Boylen. I realize this is the author's take but she paints a picture of a conniving woman, contrary to my opinion of her as a wronged woman. What a dilemma Sarah finds herself in. Can't wait for the next installment.
